Ask Kate Winslet what she liked about any of her characters, and the word "ballsy" is bound to pop up at least once. The British actress is one of our favorites. She's been working the red carpet for quite some time, so it's no surprise she knows a thing-or-two when it comes to makeup.
But, her go-to mascara tip, which she divulged to InStyle,
actually blew our minds...
"Put mascara on the roots of your lashes with a flat-ended eyeliner brush
," Winslet tells the magazine. "It makes the whites of the eyes seem whiter and keeps the lids from appearing too heavy." Basically, she's describing the easiest way to tightline your eyes. The typical techniques we hear range from wiggling our mascara at the root of our lashes (which has resulted in plenty of poked peepers) and using an eyeliner pencil to get the job done (again, ouch). Tightlining, also called invisible eyeliner, is a technique which is achieved by defining your eyelashes subtly with eyeliner. This technique makes your eyelashes appear fuller and thicker. Kudos to
Winslet for the makeup tip. It's great to know all those red carpets were good for something.
