10 Compelling Reasons to Make Detox Baths a Weekly Ritual | Orglamix.com

Happy hump day! It's been an exciting month for Orglamix! I'm working with Total Beauty and today we're launching on Gloss 48, so it's been slightly nutso these past few weeks. I feel like I’m playing catch up with laundry, housework, organizing and running a business.

One thing that I have tried to focus on over the past few weeks, is taking detox baths.  Normally, I try to take a detox bath once or twice a week and I give them to my girls too. Detox baths are amazing for health and wellness. If you don’t take detox baths, then check out my list of 10 reasons to do it and I’m sure you’ll want to hop in the tub tonight!

10 Reasons You Should Take Detox Baths

1.  Eliminate toxins from the body.

2. Reduce inflammation to relieve pain and muscle cramps.

3. Restore mineral balance in the body.

4. Improve oxygenation of cells.

5. Prevent or ease headaches.

6. Improve sleep. {A detox bath before bed is a fabulous way to wind down!}

7. Ease stress and relaxes. {I need all of this I can get!}

8. Improve heart and circulatory health.

9. Boost immunity because of the detox action!

10. Speed recovery from illness.

A detox bath is a gift I give my body. Taking the time to do it is so worthwhile! If you're wondering “How do I do a detox bath?” We’ve gotcha covered.

Here’s a simple, step-by-step guide on how to take a detox bath to help you relax, reset, and rejuvenate using natural ingredients:

How to Take a Detox Bath: Step-by-Step

Step 1: Gather Your Detox Ingredients
Choose 1–2 of the following detoxifiers (mix and match as desired):

  • Epsom Salt (2 cups): Flushes toxins and relaxes muscles with magnesium sulfate

  • Baking Soda (½ cup): Balances pH and softens skin

  • Sea Salt (½ cup): Provides trace minerals and enhances detox

  • Apple Cider Vinegar (1 cup): Restores skin acidity and soothes

  • Bentonite Clay (½ cup): Draws out heavy metals and impurities

  • Essential Oils (5–10 drops): Lavender, eucalyptus, or tea tree for relaxation and cleansing

  • Ginger Powder (1–2 tbsp): Boosts circulation and promotes sweating (optional)

Step 2: Prep Your Tub

  • Fill your tub with warm to hot water (not too hot—you want to sweat, not cook).

  • Add your detox ingredients while the water is running so they dissolve and disperse.

Step 3: Soak for 20–30 Minutes

  • Slide in, relax, and breathe deeply.

  • Use this time to meditate, read, or just zone out—this is your time.

  • If you used ginger or hot water, you might sweat—this is part of the detox process!

Step 4: Hydrate

  • Keep a glass of water or herbal tea nearby and sip throughout your soak to stay hydrated.

Step 5: Rinse Off

  • After soaking, quickly rinse off in a cool or lukewarm shower to wash away toxins released through your pores.

Step 6: Moisturize

  • Pat your skin dry and follow with a clean, natural body oil or butter to lock in hydration.

Step 7: Rest + Replenish

  • Detox baths can make you feel sleepy or drained (in a good way!).

  • Give your body time to rest—ideal before bed for deep sleep.

Optional Add-Ons:

  • Dry brushing before your bath helps stimulate lymphatic drainage.

  • Add fresh herbs (like rosemary or mint) in a muslin bag for an aromatherapeutic boost.

A detox bath is more than just a soak—it’s a ritual of self-care that supports your body’s natural ability to reset and renew. By taking just 20–30 minutes to unplug and immerse yourself in mineral-rich, soothing ingredients, you're not only cleansing your skin but calming your mind and restoring your energy. Whether you do it weekly or whenever life feels heavy, a detox bath is a simple, powerful way to come back to yourself—refreshed, rebalanced, and ready to glow.
