Move aside, Mimi. Blue eyeshadow is making a comeback, as seen on many a model during Fashion Week. Bright cobalt, sparkling navy, even pastel turquoise: When it comes to eyes, blue crushes the competition, lining eyes in glorious wings, hovering as bold graphic arcs or even squaring off as bedazzled color block (hello Christian Dior!).
There are so many wonderful shades of blue in the color spectrum -- from pale sky blue to brilliant cobalt, turquoise, cyan, and sapphire – just to name a few, but don’t be daunted by the options. The key to spring 2013′s blue eyes is that almost any shade of blue will do provided you use a bright shade – preferably one that can be considered a show stopper and that will make everyone stop; and give you a second glance.
Hence, the most popular shade of blue for spring 2013 is bright blue which comes in eyeshadows and eyeliners that you can easily incorporate into any make-up routine. Even if you’re not a fan of bright colors, there’s no need to fret. Opt for a darker shade of blue like navy but remember to let your eyes do the talking.
Spotted at Just Cavalli (above), the blue eyed trend shimmers with a mesmerizing deep blue eyeshadow enhanced with a hint of white -- something a little different to work into your makeup repertoire. The blue line was placed on the top lid; while white shimmer was used to line the inner corner of the eyes. The result is a stunning, almost metallic look. Giorgio Armani’s makeup on the runway was similar, but with a brighter shade of blue. Armani featured a slight twist; featuring a pale smokey blue green eyeshadow paired with a pop of shimmery turquoise blue as liner.

Even though the references ranged from the psychedelic sixties at Moschino Cheap and Chic, a lighter, more wearable take on electric blue eyeshadow was seen on the runway during London Fashion Week. By lining the upper and lower lash lines, Moschino Cheap and Chic’s look played up the blue trend by using a bright blue hue as opposed to the typical black or brown.

Eyeliner is one of the best make up inventions of all time: with just one stroke it can make your eye figuratively pop. And for 2013, blue eyeliner is the easiest way to indulge in the blue eye makeup trend, which is why several designers --from Dolce & Gabbana to Stella McCartney and Michael Kors capitalized on it in their spring 2013 shows.
For the 'floating' eyeliner seen as Michaels Kors, trace just above the eyelid crease.
