A Bold Lip Story

Claret lips are quickly becoming a revived beauty staple, but this spring makeup artists are also doubling down on intricately applied, dimensional neon hues like tangerine and highlighter pink. These monumental mouth designs can take up to five steps to achieve; such as those seen backstage at at Jason Wu and Missoni, where artists top a blend of three or more hues with fluorescent loose pigment.

Get The Look:

1.  Keep your eye palette neutral. A swipe of your favorite subtle color will help your lip color pop.
2.  Prep your lips with a lip scrub and a bit of moisturizing balm to keep them from flaking. Chapped lips look amplified when covered in a bright pigment.
3.  Add on your bright color. One coat will give you a muted, stained look while still being bold, while two coats will make your lips really stand out. Blot.
4.   Be creative! Try mixing and matching different shades or layering with loose pigment to add interesting color and effects. Hello, ombre lips.

Tip!
Matte is the choice finish when going day glo on lips.
