Easy Smokey Eye: For Beginners

January 27, 2014 0 Comments

The key to smokey eyes is blending and color transition. You will need a good blending brush, a flat eyeshadow shader brush and three colors in the same family to show the colors transitioning.

The trick to a perfect smoky eye is in careful layering. Multi-toned eyeshadows-- in light, medium and dark shades are the foundation for the perfect smokey eye.

Easy Smokey Eye: For Beginners

  1. To start, use your lightest color on the inner third, tearduct, and browbone area with your shader brush.  This shade highlights the eyes and makes them appear larger.
  2. Apply the second color, the second lightest shade on the outer 2/3 of your eye using the shader brush
  3. Now pick up your blending brush and get your darkest eyeshadow color and apply it onto the crease while softly blending onto the outer third and just above the crease creating the smokey affect. The crease is the socket in your eye, you can feel it with your brush.  This shade frames the eye.
  4. Use the darkest shade to line the upper and lower lash lines. Line eyes right at the top of the eyelid at the lash line. For a more dramatic look, line the lower eyelid as well.
  5. Curl lashes with an eyelash curler and complete the look by applying two coats of mascara.
