Makeup Artist: Lisa Butler

Often cited as "the makeup artist's makeup artist", Lisa Butler has been a leader in the field for more than three decades. Beginning in the 1980's, her association with punk rockers, club luminaries and festival girls helped her to hone her style. Butler has worked with premiere photographers for editorial and commercial shoots, as well as numerous fashion designers, where she prefers to take inspiration from oblique references to clothes, their translucency or texture for example, rather than blindly matching their palette.
