DIY Lemon Zest Candle

So fresh and full of zest, like a bright day exploring hillside villages with sweet unexpected turns.

Set inside a glass holder, this essential oil candle provides beautiful illumination for centerpieces and other focal points. Ideal for displaying on a mantel or sideboard, the candle also makes a great hostess gift.

Ingredients:

  • Coconut or Soy Wax Flakes

  • Lemon Essential Oil

  • Fresh Lemon Zest

  • Glass Measuring Cup

  • Glass Jar

  • Wicks (Wood or Traditional)

  • Wooden Craft Stick

Instructions:
Fill a 2 cup glass measuring cup with approximately 1 1/2-2 cups of the soy wax flakes. Microwave on high for 1 minute. Using a wooden craft stick, stir. After the first minute, continue to microwave (on high) in 30 second increments, stirring in between, until all the wax has melted.

While the wax is melting, prepare glass jars. Set wick in the bottom of each container. Use a bit of glue stick to get them to stick to the bottom of the container. Ideas for jars: re-use old jelly or Balls jars, tins or tea cups.

Once the wax is melted, stir in the lemon essential oil. We used 50 drops. Feel free to adjust the ratio to your preference. Stir in lemon zest.

Next, carefully pour the mixture into a glass jar, filling them about 7/8 full.

Once the wax has completely hardened, they are ready! To use, simply light and enjoy.
